With lots of exciting projects underway, and plenty of ventures to look forward to in the coming months, we believe that 2017 might just be our best year to date.
Here at Westbury, we continuously strive to improve and enhance our business for both customers and staff alike. This is a huge part of what enables us to provide each and every one of our customers with beautiful products that are designed to last a lifetime.
As a business that has been operating for more almost 30 years, it’s inevitable that big changes will sometimes come about by themselves, presenting us with new challenges and opportunities. This is all part of developing the brand and we very much look forward to what is in store for the future.
The retirement of John Mumford
Recognised across the nation as an expert and innovator in timber window design and production, John Mumford, is set to retire from his role at Westbury Windows and Joinery. John has worked very closely with Westbury throughout the past five years, helping with the design and launch of our bespoke timber windows in 2015. His work has been invaluable to our business and our customers, enabling us to grow considerably.
John instigated many technical firsts in the UK timber window industry earning him a well deserved and well-respected position. Some of these notable career highlights include the design and development of the first factory fitted glazing, industrialised application of wooden bars to glass, and the use of knot free environmentally friendly laminated timber sections as an alternative to pine and hardwoods.
These techniques helped form the building blocks of design for Westbury’s window products in 2015, along with more innovative firsts such as the adoption of durable Accoya for external fascias, deeper frames and sashes, along with maximised energy efficiency and security performance. You can find out more about our window products here.
John Mumford has decided to retire from Westbury in order to enjoy more leisure time with his family but he will continue to consult to our business and work on the development of new products in the future.
The appointment of James Upton as Managing Director
Another significant transition at Westbury is the recent restructuring of our management team, with James Upton being appointed as Managing Director at Westbury.
James has worked at Westbury for a total of 19 years and has seen significant business growth in that time. He has worked in a number of positions and knows the company and product inside-out. He has been our Architectural Director for several years prior to this promotion, and his new position will allow him to take on a broader managerial role within the company.
Jonathan Hey, the founder of Westbury, continues to play a significantly active role in managing and developing the business, alongside James.
We are looking forward to the future at Westbury. If you would like to find out more about our company, our products, or how we can help you to completely transform your property, please do not hesitate to contact us.
