London Home Renovation with New Doors, Windows & Roof Lantern
Open GalleryNew timber windows and doors bring a clean and fresh finish to this elegant residential home in London. The whole house was transformed with this complete renovation project, which included weighted box sash windows, casement dormer windows for the second floor and a striking new entrance door.
The box sash windows at the front of the property were delivered factory finished, with three coats of water-based microporous paint in a complementary Westbury White shade, creating a highly durable and protective layer that will last for years to come. Depending on their position, some box sash windows were upgraded with laminated glass which improves their acoustic insulation and security performance.
The casement dormer windows installed on the second floor were designed with performance and style in mind to enhance the front of the property, and a central casement window acts as a key aesthetic focal point. All Westbury casement windows are double glazed and fully double weather-stripped with modified timber as standard.
Strong and secure, a six-panelled single entrance door was installed to the front of the house, with a special raised and fielded panel and a decorative bolection mould for a traditional look. Smart, premium bronze ironmongery on the front door gives the ultimate first impression to visitors. Electric smart glazing in the sidelights can switch from satin to clear, creating a functional and modern doorway.
Box sash windows to the rear of the property were crafted using our safe, sound and secure extra glazing, making them four times stronger than regular glass. Ideal for using on lower ground windows to ensure a secure and protected home, glass is safer if broken because it shatters into smaller pieces that are less likely to cause harm. To make the glass high insulating, a Low-E coating was applied which dramatically reduces heat transfer and reflects interior heat back into the room. The coating has a slight tint to it, improving the window’s solar thermal performance.
The stylish and functional four-leaf bi-folding door opens outwards towards the back to the garden, perfectly complementing the classic lines of the new orangery extension. The orangery with timber roof lantern was supplied by our sister company Westbury Garden Rooms.
